Way back in May, I offered a Mother’s Day promotion exclusively to my newsletter subscribers – FREE Mommy & Me mini sessions to the first 5 moms to sign up! (WOW, right?!) There was no catch at all, no minimum order required, just the rule that Mom would appear in ALL ten photos in the gallery.

It is so important to me that Moms get in the picture! Personally, I really don’t like to see myself in photographs…all I see are the wrinkles, the spare tire around my waist, the roots that I need to have done…the list could go on and on.

But what do my kids see? I wondered…so I asked. I showed Macy a photo of she and I together, and asked her how I looked in it. She said, “Good. I look good, too.” (Gotta love it.)

She didn’t mention the wrinkles and the chub and the bad roots…she just doesn’t see them! My kids just see their mommy loving on them. That’s all. And one day when I am long gone, they will treasure these photos like none other.

It’s just important.

So to the mommies that came out on that humid evening in June, I say thank you for the special gift that you have given to your children. And one day, a long time from today, your kids will thank you too.

Great captures. Love your processing.

I hate taking pictures, too, but I make myself do it because in 5 years I KNOW I will say, “Look at how great I looked then, I can’t believe I thought I was fat, wrinkly, and decrepit! Gosh how I wish I looked like that now!” ;p Plus, I do it for my kids because we never know which photograph might be the last!
